Walk around the city this time of the year, and you will come across Christmas trees of all shapes, colours, sizes and themes. The malls vie with each other to have Christmas trees that are either the largest or tallest or most unique, such as the Swarovski tree with its crystal baubles, the tallest Christmas tree, the all silver decorated tree, and the poinsettia Christmas tree, which is by far my favourite of them all! Nothing puts a greater spell on the magic of Christmas quite like a Christmas tree.
For to Us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Look at the close up of a weed below – the common Dandelion, and you can’t help but notice the vibrance of the colour and the beauty despite the fact that is a dreaded weed and gardeners detest seeing them in their lawns and gardens. A weed to one maybe a beautiful flower to another. It seems to be a good contender to the showy Forsythia.
Matthew 13:37 - He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the children of the Kingdom.
Spring officially begins today in the northern hemisphere, March 20th, and what better way to celebrate its arrival than a hike and walk in 12 degree centigrade temperature. A fair enough temperature to shed my winter jacket and replace it with my North Face outdoor sweater. It is just too warm and beautiful to remain indoors. To new beginnings of the season – birds chirping, new buds, new leaves, new flowers.
It seems these days in Canada, everyone is waiting for Spring – the earth, the trees, the animals and each one of us, for reasons best known to us. We all love Winter but it is time to move on and welcome Spring. The trees seem to be yearning for warmer weather when they can burst forth into new foliage and show off their colours. The squirrels scurry in and out of their dens rustling the crisp winter leaves, their coats looking furry and warm. There are buds on the trees even in these cold temperatures that will remain dormant until Spring arrives. So are our lives, we can set aside everything that has happened in the past and move on to better, brighter hopeful and more beautiful things. There will always be a Spring after Winter. There will always be happiness, joy or good health after illness, pain, loss or hurt for each of us.
2 Corinthians 4:18 Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
