Maple trees and Muskoka chairs are synonymous with Canada just like Roots clothing, beaver tails, maple syrup, moose crossings and poutine. It did not take me long after immigrating to this beautiful country to find out that most Canadians are proud of these iconic staples.
Galatians 6:2 - Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
With the recent news and spate of events, I have begun to wonder when will we have some normalcy to our lives. Has mankind lost its favour in God’s eyes? I often think about this when I lie awake some nights wondering if there will ever be an end to this madness. For those of us who have parents, families, spouses, children and loved ones in other parts of the world, that we can’t travel to see, can’t hug or visit with – I know the feeling can bring on sadness, helplessness and sometimes distraught. But the comforting thought is that our loving Father is beside all of us every step of the way. He has us in the palm of his hands. He knows our every thought and will be there with us all until the end. I said a prayer for all of you today.
Isaiah 49:25 - I Will Not Forget You I Have Carved You on The Palms of My Hands.
While on a trail to Hatchery Falls in scenic Muskoka, I came across the most beautiful mushrooms that took me back to my childhood, fairy tales, elves and toadstools. I am convinced that whoever wrote these tales visited such places. I love the smell of damp earth, the springy feel as you walk on trails formed by years of fallen bark and paths that feel almost cork-like, the mossy expanses on the barks of trees, the sounds of the leaves rustling in the quietness of the woods and the coolness of a break-out-sweat that follows after a long walk. The best environment for growth of these mushrooms are the damp and moist undergrowth. However, don’t be fooled by their beautiful colours, apparently some of them are poisonous.
1 Corinthians 3:16 - Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
When you need a break from the rush and busyness of life, a quick escape or a getaway to a place of quiet and calm will help your body and mind to breathe and relax. It will remove you from the everyday stress, the chaotic lifestyle that most of us lead, the thoughts and anxieties that crowd our minds and fill our heads, the tensions in our bodies and the regular worries that everyday life brings. The rest and relaxation will bring healing to your mind and body and rejuvenate you. The getaway does not have to be an expensive or exotic getaway, it can be an escape to your room or your backyard, a hike in the woods, a day spent gardening, a long walk by the lake or a day spent in bed reading your favourite book. What’s your getaway this weekend?
Jeremiah 30:17 - For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
If you had an opportunity to begin life over, where would you start? Would you think differently, act differently, manage your relations a certain way, change your lifestyle or would you not change a thing? Something to ponder over.
Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
