If you want to experience calm and beauty before the hustle and bustle of the day sets in, then I suggest you do an early morning walk. It gives you time to thank and praise God, gives you a sense of purpose, allows you to get your mind in order, helps you to focus, exercise or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the first moments of the day.
Psalm 57:8 - Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
These photos of garden containers were taken in summer when parks and residents and patios vie to put out well decorated and inviting outdoor garden containers. My favourite are those that have a mix of colours and textures, heights and assortment of plants, with some trailing plants that create a whimsical look. The containers themselves can enhance the whole theme of the arrangement, creating a modern, rustic or minimalist look.
Isaiah 68:4 - But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.
Happy Easter WordPress family, to those of you that celebrate the risen Lord and may the joys of the Easter season be yours. To those of you who do not celebrate Easter I wish you a happy Spring or whatever it is that gladdens your heart and brings you joy and hope. Our prayers go out to those that are suffering or displaced or ill or lost a loved one or away from their families and loved ones.
The good part about going back into the office to work is seeing familiar Toronto downtown sights. Often time in the past while commuting to work in the mornings or returning home in the evenings I have rarely bothered to take in the sights. Today while getting into work I stopped and paused and took out my phone to take a few pictures. I said ‘thank you Lord’ and I made a conscious effort to marvel at the beautiful sights of the City that I have grown to call home. I did the same while returning home, not bothered by the few commuters who glanced my way while eagerly scuttling home. I now have a new appreciation for my City that was mostly shuttered and ghosted in the past two years.
Hebrew 11:10 - For he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
I decided to take some pictures out on a cold winter day and I was pleasantly surprised. The snow was a foot deep and it was frigid, yet the walk revealed a very different story. I saw blue skies and the colours of the setting sun and clouds that peppered the sky and formed moving images. I saw the branches of the trees and leaves laden with snow. I saw a pristine landscape of white, marked in some places with dog tracks and boot prints. I felt refreshed and alive after the walk.
Isaiah 55:10 - For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater.
There is a love hate relationship for winter by Canadians. Some love the season and others can’t wait for it to pass by. I must admit I belonged to the latter category of people until I discovered that enjoying winter activities or simply accepting the fact that winter is part of life, makes winter more enjoyable. Walking in winter refreshes the body and mind, although one has to dress warmly to enjoy this activity. The more adventurous and younger generation enjoy winter activities such as skating, sledding, tobogganing, tubing and skiing. It is also undeniably the most beautiful season of the year.
Job 37:10 – From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.
I am dedicating this blog to everyone who has waited patiently for that special someone in their life, who have been through struggles in relationships and were wanting to give up, but have pressed on and trusted in the Lord’s plan for their lives. This is your time to revel in your love, your time to shine and your time to be loved. Know that we each have our partners and spouses handpicked for us by God and while at time we see only their faults and follies, they are but special, human and uniquely fashioned.
Genesis 1:27-28: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’
